BPB Architects were engaged by the clients to extend and fully refurbish their detached cottage located close of Winford.
We worked closely with the clients from the outset to explore layout options that provided better areas for a young family. The proposed layouts created larger rooms, reduced circulation area and allowed more natural light into the interior whilst allowing views across the countryside.
BPB worked closely with the Local Planning Authority to obtain the required planning approvals for the proposed works. As the cottage was outside of a settlement boundary and within the Green Belt it took some time to manage through the planning system.
Once planning was successfully achieved, we worked closely with Sidwick and Thompson Builders to deliver the project for the clients. The construction works involved a new roof along with a two-storey side extension and small single storey side extension. The interior of the cottage was fully refurbished and renovated to create a home suitable for a young family.
The house has been transformed from a small, dark and poorly laid out set of spaces into a larger, lighter family home with great connections to the external areas.
