BPB Architects were engaged by the clients to extend, remodel and fully refurbish a large cottage in Winterbourne.
The house and site were located outside of a settlement boundary and within the Green Belt. BPB worked within the more restrictive planning policy to achieve a design that increased the size and footprint of the existing house and allowed for larger, lighter rooms and spaces that are much better suited for modern family living requirements.
A two-storey side extension and single storey rear extension to the original house created a much larger family home in the countryside. Larger windows and doors connect the interior spaces to the external landscape whilst flooding the rooms with natural light.
BPB Architects were involved in all stages of this project from initial designs to obtaining planning approvals before assisting to find a suitable contractor and obtaining Building Control Approval for the building works.
The building has been transformed from a dark and cramped cottage with small rooms into a large and light, modern family home that features large spaces bathed in natural light and with great views of the landscape.
