BPB Architects were engaged by the clients to provide ideas and options for how to remodel the ground floor layout of the existing house into a more logical set of spaces that provided better areas for a young, modern family.

An existing conservatory was removed and replaced with a larger single storey rear extension that allowed the ground floor layout to be fully transformed into a beautiful family home in the countryside.

The house was located outside of a settlement boundary and within the Green Belt. BPB worked within these policy constraints to achieve a contemporary design approach that achieved the client’s ambitions.

The new extension allows for a larger kitchen, dining and living area with great connections to the amazing garden area. Large lantern rooflights drop natural light into the internal spaces and a living green roof promotes biodiversity as well as rainwater attenuation. The use of stone and timber on the external elevations allows the extension to blend into the existing building whilst retaining its own character.

BPB worked in close collaboration with Krug Developments to achieve the project on time and on budget.
