A two-storey property located within a greenbelt and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty overlooking the Wellow Brook valley and the wider countryside. Due to the site topography the property is sunk into the landscape and appears as a bungalow from the street and a two-storey dwelling from the rear.
BPB were originally appointed to provide construction stage information for tender for an approved single-storey side extension and internal reconfiguration.
Following this tender process, it was regarded as unviable to carry out the desired works and a new planning application was submitted for a replacement dwelling that followed the intent of the previous application while seeking to maximise the volume permitted under greenbelt guidelines and rationalise spaces.
The replacement home provided an upside-down property, with 3-bedrooms on the lower ground floor and the master bedroom suite and living accommodation on the ground floor.
A projected full width balcony adorns the rear elevation with vertical timber cladding and steps down from the ground floor. The front elevation is a simpler buff brick replacing the former ashlar stone façade.
