The Cabin

BPB worked closely with the staff and committee members of the local Pre-School known as “The Cabin” to prepare designs for a new building to replace the current dilapidated and outdated existing shed.

The proposed building is a sustainable, purpose built, flexible building that can be used for a variety of community uses.

The simple, yet striking form, provides a more welcoming building for children, staff and visitors and allows for natural light to be maximised through high level glazing whilst maintaining security and privacy for the children.

The use of natural materials seeks to reflect the nearby trees and woodland setting. The green roof enhances biodiversity and increases rainwater attenuation to assist with the reduction of surface water flooding.

The mono-pitch roof creates a semi-covered patio to the south that connects the interior and exterior spaces and provides a covered outside play space.

As a local community project, BPB Architect donated our time and expertise to prepare the initial concept designs, preparation and submission of a planning application and the production of detailed design information to obtain tender prices and building regulations approval. We will continue to assist on this project until the building is completed.
