BPB were originally approached to assist the contractor with the construction drawings and delivery of the home but were later asked to act as the employer’s agent to ensure the contract was fairly administered to both parties.
As employer’s agent we assisted in the firming up of provisional sums, variations, additions, delays and faults where we worked with both the client and contractor to give impartial advice to both parties and administer the contract equitably.
The home provided a spacious 5-bed contemporary three-storey replacement dwelling in a West Berkshire village. A basement pool, cinema room and plant room were sunk into the landscape with the landscape tapered down to large north facing windows. The ground floor provided well connected habitable rooms with views out over the countryside and the first-floor bedrooms. The timber framed house is clad in linear brick at ground level, a GRP transition band and vertical timber cladding at the first floor.
The house is powered from 5no ground source heat bore holes, solar panels, and internally had a high-end smart home system.
