BPB were appointed to design a new house on a working stable overlooking the Wellow Brook Valley. The proposal sought to provide a house that was functional for the stable lifestyle with a large utility and downstairs shower, with good access to and overlooking of key areas of the stables. The rear of the house looked away from the stables and towards the valley to create a separation between work and home-life.
The house has been designed to meet current needs with the ability to extend in the future. A raised roof collar tie provides an opportunity for greater room volume and large windows that bathe the house in light.
The house has been clad in a mixture of stone, timber and slate to be sympathetic to its farm surroundings and hardwearing for its exposed nature.
